Heart T-shirt

Heart T-Shirt

We jazzed up an old plain T-shirt

We found a plain old $4 t-shirt in Serenas cupboard that she won’t wear again because it’s too ‘plain and boring’ SO we jazzed it up!!

First step was fold some A4 paper in half and drew half a heart then Serena cut it out so now we have a full heart shape.

In the next step we turned the t-shirt inside out and pinned the cut out paper heart onto the centre back of it. Serena carefully traced around the edge of it.

I then measured 1.5cm strips across the heart on the t-shirt but Serena wanted the strips to go DOWN so I remeasured the strips to go down!! (that’s why our heart has criss-crosses. Lol)

I folded the heart in half so Serena can carefully cut little slits into it along the DOWN marked lines, then we opened out the t-shirt and she could slip the scissors into the slits to cut all along the lines to each edge of the heart.

Just be careful that you only cut the back side of the t-shirt and not to nick any other part. You can slip an old magazine into the shirt to make it easier if you need to. Our cutting wasn’t that great but after you wash the t-shirt the strips ‘curl’ more so it’s not that noticeable.

Yet again another great result from an easy DIY project!!

Eatable Tea cups

Eatable Tea cups

These little tea cups are great fun to make and to eat!!

We made these for Serenas School Fate cake stall.

What you need:
Round biscuits for the base/saucer (We couldn’t decide which ones to buy so we bought a collection of them. I felt the Hundreds & Thousands biscuits would make them far too sweet but Serena reckons they will be perfect!!)Marshmallows for the cup, Life savers for the cup handles, White choc bits for the ‘glue’, Milk (brown) choc bits for the ‘coffee’ and 100s & 1000s for the froth.

First we melted a small amount of the milk choc bits in the microwave. We then dipped the marshmallows into the chocolate then into the 100s & 1000s. (we ended up making some of white and some of milk choc tops)

Next we melted another small amount of the white choc bits in the microwave and used that as the ‘glue’ to stick the marshmallow to the base biscuits.

The last step was to cut the lifesavers in half and ‘glue’ them onto the side of the marshmallows with some more melted white choc bits so the cups now have some handles.

Yum !!

School Fate here we come!!

Inspirational Rocks

INSPIRATIONAL ROCKS

We went to the river for morning tea and collected our rocks.

We are lucky as we live close to the river (at the moment its very low) I did notice that you can buy bags of rocks at the bargain shops or landscaping nurseries and even hardware stores.

Then all we needed was the markers. I bought these uni Paint Markers from the newsagent. They seem to work really well on the rocks.

I gave the rocks a wash and they were completely dry before we started decorating them.

At first it was hard to think of inspirational words/phrases to paint on the rocks so I googled some, once we began the words/phrases keep rolling on their own and so did our patterns!!

Some of the words/patterns I did the layered effect and found that if you used the white first as the base the end result just looked better. When I did the white on top the other colour seem to come through and it looked a bit fuzzy and not as clean.

We were very pleased with the end result.

WHAT DOES ONE DO WITH A LOTS OF INSPIRATIONAL ROCKS??

I took the dog for a walk on some bush walking tracks around our local lookout SO every now and again I placed one of the rocks on the track for all to see. Hopefully they were seen and ‘inspired’ others to have a great day.

(Serenas rocks were ‘too precious’ to do anything with other than keeping!! Lol )

P.S. A week later and most of the rocks were still on the  bush walking tracks!!
